When I got my job here at Glendale Public Library, the turn-around time from the date of my second interview to my start date was very quick. My interview was on April 19 and my first day was May 16. Less than a month – which in Civil Service time is lightning fast considering my physical and paperwork, etc., etc. So because of this quick turnaround and a 2-week notice to RBPL and PVLD, I left the teen SRP planned @ RBPL but I couldn’t execute them.
Enter amazing staff. The programming librarian at RBPL and another part-timer were wonderful in picking up the programs I’d planned and executing them. They’ve even been great about letting me know how the program went, how many kids came, and what issues arose. So far they’ve had 2 and the only one thats left is the big finale which is a Ninja Warrior challenge.
Melted MasterpiecesThe 2 programs they’ve already executed were Melted Masterpieces (melting crayons on canvas — Thanks, Pinterest!) and a celebration of the Dark Knight Rises with comic book mod-podge. The Melted Masterpieces had a few hiccups from what they told me — Like the hair dryers triggering the fire alarm in the meeting room and the fire department showing up, but overall, the product of their efforts came out splendidly. And I bet the teens enjoyed the fire alarm part. So a big THANK YOU to Amy & Simi for putting on these programs in my absence and keeping me in the loop!
